Academic Reforms :

  • Centralized admission of all the constituent colleges with in-house computer software

  • Introduction of 2- Years P.G., 3-Years UG. Honours & 5-Years Integrated U.G. — P.G. (Hons) programmes.

  • Admission for the session 2017-18 through Cluster University Joint Entrance Test -2017 (CLUJET-2017) as per detail given here under

    • 2- Years P.G. Programme in Commerce, Music, English, Geology, Mathematics, Textile and Apparel Science, Food Science & Technology, M.Ed.

    • 3-Years UG. Honours Programmes in English, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Commerce.

    • 5-Years Integrated U.G. P.G. (lions} in English, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, family & Community Science and B.Ed-M.Ed.

  • Formulation of syllabus as per U.G.C. norms.

  • Uniform academic and examination calendar has been framed for all the constituent colleges and schools of the university.

  • Introduction of Choice Based Credit System in the University.

  • Centralized committees comprising staff from all the constituent colleges, have been constituted for the following purpose.

    • Syllabus

    • Skill based courses

    • N.S.S.

    • N.C.C.

    • Sports Activities

Governance Reforms :

The following governance reforms have been initiated by the University:

  • University Calendar covering all the university rules and regulations required for smooth functioning of the university has been drafted and stands submitted to the competent authority for approval.

  • Detailed proposals has been submitted to the Higher Education Department, J&K for recognition of teaching and non-teaching staff of the constituent colleges.

  • Proposal regarding appointment of Deans and constitution of statutek committee stands submitted to the competent authority.

  • Proposal for creation of 342 posts stand submitted to the Higher Education Department.

Financial Reforms :

  • The process of receipt of fee from the students has been centralized and being properly monitored by the university.

  • The process for refund of fee to the eligible students on account of cancellation of admission has been introduced by the university.

  • The fee structure for student has been revised keeping in view the requirements of the university. iv. Statutes regarding purchase norms has been prepared for financial governance of the university.

Cluster University Srinagar

Formation of Interim Bodies :

After a series of meetings with the Principals and other senior faculty members of the Constituent Colleges of the Cluster University of Srinagar, the following academic bodies have been framed:-

  1. University Academic Council
  2. Board of Under-Graduate Studies
  3. Board of Post-Graduate Studies
  4. Admissions Committees
  5. Information Technology (IT) Support Committee
  6. Examination Committee
  7. Statutes Framing Committees with regard to Research, Faculty Service Rules and Student Examination Systems

Admissions :

  • Launching of College web portal Website

  • Online reach out to students and online admission

  • Centralised admission to the under-graduate programmes of the constituent Colleges of the Cluster University as per merit and pre-determined intake capacity of the colleges.

  • Introduction of five year UG / PG Integrated programmes in eight disciplines of Chemistry, Information Technology, Environment Science, Economics, English, Computers Science, Business Administration, Commerce

  • Conduct of an aptitude test on 22-4-2017 for admission to all the integrated courses

  • Launching of the following PG Programmes: -Chemistry, Zoology, Commerce, Geography, Human Development, English, Env. Science, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Education and M.Ed.

  • 68 posts in different categories have been created for establishment of theCluster University Srinagar

  • The post of Controller of Examination has been filled.

  • Some posts in the cadre of Accounts, Planning and Statistics and Administration have been filled up by the respective Departments on deputation basis.

  • Purchase of Equipment and Furniture items for establishment of the University.

Syllabi and Examination reforms :

  • Syllabi and curriculum of all the programmes has been devised in light of the curriculum recommended by the UGC and adopted by reputed Institutions of the country.

  • Clarity with regard to the adoption of Choice Based Credit System for all programmes of the University has been ensured by sensitising the concerned teachers through a series of meetings and presentations.

  • Reforms in the process of evaluation has been introduced by giving considerable weightage to Continuous Assessment, Class Level Evaluation and by incorporating Problem solving as a component of the Question Papers.

General :

  • Cluster University Srinagar has been recognised by the University Grants Commission under 2(f) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956 in terms of the UGC Communication No/ F.9-3/2017(CPP-I/PU) dated 15.06.2017. The University has also been authorised to award degrees in Graduation/Post-Graduation and Research Programmes.

  • Relevant information on the prescribed formats have been submitted to the U.G.C. for recognition of the Cluster University under Sec. 12(B) of the U.G.C. Act. 1956.

  • The University has applied to the MHRD, GOI for provision of connectivity under National Knowledge Network (NKN) Initiative.

  • Proposals have been sent for approval to the honourable chancellor with regard to the recognition of the existing faculty of the colleges as the faculty of the cluster Universities so that from this recognised faculty the appointment of Deans and the constitution of the bodies like Academic Council, Syndicate, University Council, Inspection Board, and Selection Committees facilitated.

  • Review meetings are regularly conducted with the R&B (the executing agency for the constructions under RUSA) to ensure monitoring of the on-going constructions works and their completion within the time frame of October 2017.

  • Committees of teachers have been constituted to coordinate the efforts of the University towards submission of projects to the UGC, DST and other funding agencies under SAP, FIST and other Research Funding Initiatives as the University shall be launching research programmes very soon.

  • An amount of Rs. 9.53 lakhs have been released out of preparatory grants of RUSA to various Constituent Colleges for conduct of Workshops on different topics in the field of Science.

  • The draft Statutes of the Cluster University have been framed and submitted to the Pro-Chancellor / Chancellor for its approval.

  • Appointments of 10 Assistant Professors and two Teaching Assistants have been made against the vacant positions of the University for teaching of P.G. Courses.

  • Exercise has been started to appoint Programmers on contractual basis as a support staff for I.T. Cell of the University.

  • Examination Calendar for all the Courses running in Constituent Colleges i.e. Under-Graduate, 5-Year Integrated and P.G. Courses has been finalised and notified.

  • Examination material required for purposes of conduct of examination of students has been got printed/published and received in the University.

  • The University is launching One year Certificate Course in the following languages under “Evening School of Languages”:-

    1. Arabic
    2. Hindi
    3. Kashmirir
    4. Persian
    5. French
    6. Punjabi
    7. German
    8. Chinese
    9. Dogri
  • The details of funds released by the State Government under different heads is given as under:-

    1 Grant-in-aid Rs. 25.00 Lacs
    2 Salary Rs. 37.50 Lacs
    3 Capex Budget Rs. 50.00 Lacs
    4 RUSA preparatory grants Rs. 100.00 Lacs
    5 Revenue Generated by the University of its own resources Viz. admissions etc.: Rs. 98.00 Lacs
  • An amount of Rs. 5394.43 Lacs have been allocated under RUSA for construction of different buildings at the Constituent Colleges of the Cluster University. The construction work of the buildings including the Administrative Block of the Cluster University under RUSA is in progress
